For the past ten years, I have been coaching clients on how to turn their aspirations into reality – how to create a meaningful and rewarding life for themselves. The challenge that my clients face is realizing that wanting and hoping to change or make beautiful experiences happen in their lives is not enough to get unstuck and move forward towards achieving their goals and realizing their dreams. We all need to remember how to use our ability to consciously influence our thoughts and behaviours – our self-leadership ability, in order to create the experiences that brings us happiness in life. 

We begin with developing your self-leadership foundation which at Heart & Soul Coaching and Retreats® are the key qualities required to create a motivational momentum to make changes happen.  These qualities are your self-esteem, self-respect, self-reliance, self-confidence, self-motivation and self-determination. 
These then engage the magical qualities of integrity and courage which are required to believe in yourself, and be able to face one’s fears and get past negative thinking. It also evokes dedication and decision-making – two qualities required to focus and commit to the process, and to believe in the endless possibilities and opportunities available to you.

These essential qualities allow you the emotional way forward. Without these, no matter how much you want to make a specific change in your life, you actually believe you are incapable – powerless to do so, and therefore remain feeling stuck and unable to move forward in life.

Courage comes from within us, from our internal awareness – our values. Fear itself comes from our external awareness – our brain’s limbic system (emotional brain which supports a variety of functions including emotions, behaviours, motivation, etc.). In essence, fears are extrinsic stories and patterns we created or adopted from our families, friends, society as a whole. In fact, our emotional brain keeps repeating our fear patterns for a very simple reason – because it recorded those at a time we were challenged in life and every time it senses we are in similar situations, it wants to protect us by reminding us of the original emotion felt at that specific time. Agreeing with such patterns take us down the path of least resistance and hold us back in life. Recognizing these patterns for what they are may be difficult but with practice possible by reminding ourselves of our ability to consciously influence our thoughts and behaviours, and by establishing resilient boundaries supported by positive thinking and proactive language.  

Asking yourself the following questions gets you going on the right path:

Knowing the kind of life I presently have, what would I like instead?  What would I like to change in my life?

Knowing how I feel at this very moment, how would I like to feel instead?

What do I need to let go of in my life?

What do I want to welcome in my life, bring into my life?

These types of questions coupled with meaningful and rewarding experiences as well as self-leadership tools will have you create a happy and fulfilling life for yourself.
